Seeing the more “main stream” conservative talking heads awkwardly shuffle their gay marriage position to a more supportive one shows that they see the inevitable and are trying to get out in front of it. Seeing the changing political winds, people like Elizabeth Hassleback and Glenn Beck want long careers as commentators. They don’t want to be seen as dinosaurs of the past and in 5-10 years when a very solid and unshakable majority of Americans support our right to marry and function as American families, they don’t want to be the ones playing catch up.

My first question about Meg Whitman is “WHY does she want to be Governor?”

She’s never given a shit about the political process, she’s never done anything that doesn’t serve herself first.

Well no… she was pretty involved in passing Proposition 8, which should tell you that she only cares about holding people back, not about helping them get ahead. She’s now poured over $100 MILLION of her own dollars to get elected but doesn’t seem to have much of a platform other than “let’s make things easy for business.”

Meg Whitman pledges to cut public funding for health care and education. She’s already promised mass layoffs if she becomes governor, just as she did at eBay. And she can’t even be bothered to exercise that most basic of rights — the right to vote.

Do whatever you can to stop this… well… Asshole.

A Suffragette she ain’t. But with her… we’ll suffer.

As a gay man who’s lived through about 5,000 instances of a scientist running in the door shouting “EUREKA!!!” only to have them say “Oh… oops” about 3 months later, I’m not going to hold my breath. Scientists at Illinois’ Loyola University have discovered a protein that destroys HIV in Rhesus monkeys. The TRIM5a proteins in Rhesus monkeys gang up and destroy the virus; previously, the TRIM5a has been used to prevent HIV in Rhesus monkeys. However, humans have the TRIM5a protein and it does not protect them against HIV; in order to develop treatments that will allow it to do so, researchers will have to pinpoint the components that make it so effective in monkeys. Researchers are focusing on a particular chain of six amino acids, which could be altered to attack the virus.
